Résumé : Sally D. Hacker is a coastal ecologist at Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR, where she is Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology. She received her BS from the University of Washington in 1984 and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Brown University in 1996. As a community ecologist interested in natural and managed rocky intertidal, dune, and estuarine systems, Professor Hacker’s research explores species interactions and how they influence community structure, functions, and services under global change. Her work has most recently focused on the protective role of sandy beach and dune ecosystems in mitigating coastal vulnerability due to climate change. She is author or co-author on numerous articles and books exploring species interactions, marine invasions, and ecosystem services important to marine spatial planning and ecosystem-based management. Her co-authored 2011 article in Ecological Monographs was recently ranked first of the top ten publications on marine ecosystem services by a global survey of marine academics and professionals. Professor Hacker teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in ecology and marine biology, and is co-author of the best selling ecology textbook on the market (Ecology by M. Cain, W. Bowman, and S. Hacker).
