le vendredi 02 juin 2017A scientist position in applied ecotoxicology is available at the Swiss Centre for Applied Ecotoxicology (Ecotox Centre). The group located in Lausanne is seeking environmental scientists with a strong background in soil ecotoxicology, with special emphasis on bioassays and bioavailability.
The position is focused on (1) selecting, validating and applying ecotoxicological methods for environmental monitoring and quality assessment; (2) standardizing relevant bioassays; and (3) providing and transferring expertise to stakeholders. Projects will be carried out in close collaboration with Swiss federal and cantonal agencies, as well as academic and industry experts in the field. The successful candidate will be required to actively participate in relevant national and international working groups, present research results at scientific conferences, write reports and scientific papers, organize and lecture in advanced education courses, provide expert consulting and maintain strong links with Swiss stakeholders.
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in environmental sciences with a focus on ecotoxicological effect assessment in soil. Several years of professional experience in a regulatory work environment (e.g. authorities, consulting, industry), (inter-)national working groups and collaborations with stakeholders is beneficial. The candidate will be expected to show initiative, to independently plan and manage projects, work efficiently as part of a team, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as time management and organizational skills. Fluency in spoken and written English is required; French and/or German language skills are desired.
